JUMPSTART TRAINS AND DEPLOYS TEAMS OF CORPS MEMBERS - ABOUT FIVE TO EIGHT PER TEAM - TO WORK WITH PRESCHOOL CHILDREN IN LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES FOR A FULL SCHOOL YEAR (ON AVERAGE 300 HOURS) OF TUTORING AND MENTORING IN PRESCHOOL CLASSROOMS. IN TAX YEAR 2016, 3,919 COLLEGE STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS ARE BRINGING THE JUMPSTART PROGRAM TO 11,355 PRESCHOOL CHILDREN LIVING IN LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES.
