Mission StatementTHE WINDWARD SCHOOL IS DEDICATED TO FULFILLING ITS MISSION OF PROVIDINGA PROVEN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM TO STUDENTS WITH LANGUAGE-BASED LEARNING DISABILITIES IN FIRST THROUGH NINTH GRADE.STUDENTS ARE OF AVERAGE TO SUPERIOR INTELLIGENCE WHO HAVE BEEN UNABLETO ACHIEVE ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN TRADITIONAL CLASSROOM SETTINGS. ATWINDWARD, STUDENTS RECEIVE THE SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTION NEEDED IN ORDERTO CLOSE THE GAP BETWEEN INTELLECTUAL POTENTIAL AND ACADEMICPERFORMANCE. THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ENABLE STUDENTS TO EXPERIENCESUCCESS, HELP THEM UNDERSTAND THE NATURE OF THEIR LEARNING DIFFERENCES,PROVIDE THEM WITH THE SKILLS AND STRATEGIES TO OVERCOME THEIR ACADEMICDIFFICULTIES, AND ENABLE THEM TO RETURN TO MAINSTREAM SETTINGS. IN 2017, THE SCHOOL SERVED 796 STUDENTS ON ITS THREE CAMPUSES - TWO IN WESTCHESTER AND ONE IN NEW YORK CITY.
